If your area is under watering restrictions, the goal is to make every allowed watering session count. We recommend running your system around 4 a.m., or whenever the wind has died down. Calm early-morning conditions keep the water falling close to the grass instead of drifting off target or evaporating before it ever reaches the soil — so you get more value out of a limited watering window.
Another technique we use is a pre-soak cycle: running a shorter cycle first to wet the surface of the ground, then following it with your main watering cycle. That first pass softens the soil so the second cycle can soak in more deeply instead of running off, which means less water wasted and more of it actually reaching the root zone.
